Course Information:  Photography 1 offers an introduction to the use of a digital camera.  Students will develop the basic photography skills necessary to understand the medium and to obtain consistent, desired results.  Students will  have the opportunity to apply learned photographic theory and technique in a photojournalistic and an editorial storytelling context.  A 35 mm SLR camera with manual capabilities is required.

Instructor:  Joel Salcido, a Fulbright scholarship finalist for a Bolivian photography project and whose photographs are now in the permanent collections of Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, El Paso Museum of Art, The Harry Ransom Humanities Center, will teach Photography 1 to students and the public in Fredericksburg this fall.

His latest exhibit "Aliento A Tequila" will open in Austin at the Mexican American Cultural Center in September.  Salcido continues to work as an editor and fine art photographer in Austin and produces work for galleries, ad agencies and publications like USA Today, Garden & Gun and Texas Monthly.
